August 15th Star Party is ON!

We will be holding our Starway to Heaven star party this evening at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. The current forecast (as of 9:00 AM EDT) is calling for clear skies with temperatures starting at approximately 70°F at sunset and falling into the low 60s as the evening goes on. Long pants and a jacket or heavy sweatshirt are recommended.

Sunset will be at approximately 8:00 PM. Venus and the 13% illuminated waxing crescent Moon will be out there at sunset. There will be no Space Station overflights in the evening sky, but we can expect to see a few satellites and some leftover rocket boosters orbiting over us along with up to a few hundred Starlink satellites visible. Saturn arrives after the end of twilight - will you stay long enough to get a peek?
