WAA Outreach

Are you a school, library, camp, or other organization looking for a free and educational yet exciting and engaging activity for your community? We are here to help!

WAA volunteers can visit your organization and run an all-ages astronomy program consisting of a beginner-friendly presentation, live telescope observing, or both! Use the button below to visit our Contact page and submit a request for an outreach event.

To ensure the best availability of volunteers for your event, you must be located in Westchester County or a surrounding county (Putnam, Fairfield, NYC, Rockland, Orange, Bergen). We offer outreach events free of charge for non-profits.

Why we love astronomy outreach

Many WAA members will say that participating in outreach is their favorite part about belonging to our organization.  The opportunity to help others identify and view objects through a telescope is both fun and extremely rewarding. There's nothing like helping someone get a glimpse of lunar craters, Saturn's rings, or Jupiter's moons through a telescope.  Children and adults alike have been known to exclaim "Wow!" and run to bring their friends and family to the eyepiece, saying "You have to see this!"

We have reached hundreds of people throughout Westchester with our noteworthy programs at schools, libraries, and camps.
